On Reason and Passion

...and then I remembered this man, and this passage from 'The Prophet'
JP

 Kahlil Gibran

On Reason and Passion

Your soul is oftentimes a battlefield, upon which your reason and your judgment wage war against your passion and your appetite.
Would that I could be the peacemaker in your soul, that I might turn the discord and the rivalry of your elements into oneness and melody.
But how shall I, unless you yourselves be also the peacemakers, nay, the lovers of all your elements?

Your reason and your passion are the rudder and the sails of your seafaring soul. If either your sails or your rudder be broken, you can but toss and drift, or else be held at a standstill in mid-seas.
For reason, ruling alone, is a force confining; and passion, unattended, is a flame that burns to its own destruction.
Therefore let your soul exalt your reason to the height of passion, that it may sing;
And let it direct your passion with reason, that your passion may live through its own daily resurrection, and like the phoenix rise above its own ashes.

I would have you consider your judgment and your appetite even as you would two loved guests in your house.
Surely you would not honour one guest above the other; for he who is more mindful of one loses the love and the faith of both.

Among the hills, when you sit in the cool shade of the white poplars, sharing the peace and serenity of distant fields and meadows -- then let your heart say in silence, "God rests in reason."
And when the storm comes, and the mighty wind shakes the forest, and thunder and lightning proclaim the majesty of the sky -- then let your heart say in awe, "God moves in passion."
And since you are a breath in God's sphere, and a leaf in God's forest, you too should rest in reason and move in passion.

He puts it so much better than I can!

JP

It is ok to feel

The passion -
The storm within -
and the calm after the storm.
It's the opposites that make us complete,
and that is all ok.

It is what you do with the passion that's important.

Regardless of the ebb and flow,
still feel compassion -
feel the love and eternal gratitude.
Be the Observer of your own opposites
your yin and yang
light and darkness
rage and calm
and bring the balance
Be the One.

Karma

Lao Tzu

What of Karma?

Karma quite simply is the record of cause and effect in each soul’s existance. You kill someone in one life, you eventually pay for it in another (normally with your life and blood).

As we reach the end of a 26000 year cycle, we are about to move into the Fifth dimension - Heaven on Earth - the age of ‘knowing’ rather than the current age of ‘believing’ - astrologically - The Age of Aquarius. This is an age where only those who have evolved enough spiritually to be able to handle power and not abuse it are able to participate - those who haven’t evolved sufficiently can continue to pursue the demands of their ego in another dimension.

There is the freedom of choice.

It is all about evolution of the spirit to find your way back to your source.

(Many religions record this as a momentous event of judgement, where you are either ‘in’ or ‘out’ - however the criteria in their eyes is a badge of membership, and not what is really is, - the evolution of a soul to an equilibrium of love and compassion. A person in whom  those qualities are completely natural, and not guided by necessity)

We have been there before as a race - and most people have heard of Atlantis. The fact is that there are so many stories, because there are so many storytellers (and of course you have to factor in the ‘Chinese Whisper’!) - but Atlantis was an age in the Fifth dimension, and it was once more through the abuse of power that it fell into ruin, washed away, or sunk by a great flood (you’ve read about Noah’s ark - well that was a consequence of this flood that covered Atlantis).

So - what to do?

Here's my first thought - become a vegetarian.................

I hear a great laugh go up! - but bear with me.

OK - maybe as the first step, think of becoming a vegetarian.

Actually our Karma as ‘cause and effect’ is directly related to everything we eat, and if even indirectly we have caused the death of a sentient being, then through the law of Karma will we have to pay for those deaths - eventually.

Here’s a quote from Genesis (King James Bible) that gives you food for thought (sorry)

Genesis 1 29
And God said, "Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat."

So for now, think about that - we are supposed to be vegetarian - this meat eating business causes more misery and food shortage problems than you can imagine - the problem is - I am a meat eater, but I am trying to evolve:

As I write this, I can say that I am a ‘Pescatarian’. OK it is a slight cop-out, but in reality I started my path as a vegetarian two weeks ago, and on the first friday, I was invited to Koi in Rosebank. Then it hit me! I hadn’t factored in Sushi. So I sat there, wobbled, justified everything to myself and wolfed down a plate of delicious sushi.

Hence Pescatarian. Baby steps............

Maybe by the next entry or two, I will be off fish as well.

The point is this. We as human beings contribute to the misery and suffering of animals in the pursuit of our food. We grow animals in the most inhumane circumstances and then kill them (in the name of food and profit). Often with no thought towards the suffering of those animals.

Well, to a red blooded meat eater, this is either me being feeble-minded, or if they agree, they must look at their meat and see a chop, or a steak, or a lifeless hunk of ‘chicken’ - but don’t dwell on the animal. Lets face it, as humans we are generally very thoughtless and cruel about our survival. (and before you even think it - Darwin can’t be factored in!) - it is not justified by the survival of the fittest, that isn’t necessary, as we are not in a jungle, and we are not wild animals. (we even try this mindless Darwinian quote to justify our unethical behaviour in business)

We have the freedom of choice, which means we can behave ethically and with compassion if we choose to!

Seriously - in our daily living, we shouldn’t be responsible - directly or indirectly for anyone’s misery or death. We should rather be consiously thinking of other people we share this planet with as we go about our daily business of living, and that includes animals of every sort.

So, if you think that our Karma includes what we do to our dumb companions - the animals on the Earth, then maybe it is time to reconsider.

I love my food, and I eat more than anyone I know, but through understanding more about cause and effect, and my own personal footprint on this planet, I have taken this step.

Stream of life and the world in which we live

 Rabindranath Tagore (7 May 1861 – 7 August 1941)

This is fantastic stuff:

"The same stream of life that runs through my veins runs through the world, and dances in rhythmic measure. It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth into numberless blades of grass and breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers. It is the same life that has rocked in the ocean cradle of life and death, in ebb and in flow. I feel that my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life, and my pride is from the life-throb of ages dancing in my blood this moment." Rabindranath Tagore

and on greed........(this is pretty much the blight of the world).

"The greed of gain has no time or limit to its capaciousness. Its one object is to produce and consume. It has pity neither for beautiful nature nor for living human beings. It is ruthlessly ready without a moment's hesitation to crush beauty and life out of them, molding them into money."   Rabindranath Tagore

Isn't this pretty much what we see all around us?

So here's some thinking on how to change the world in which we live.....

Don't fight against things you disagree with - they only gain power from your resistance......
Don't judge.......everyone is at a different stage of learning.

Don't criticise....(much the same as judging)
Do -  use your imagination and desire to create a better world. This may sound very flakey, but if you ask Bruce Lipton (author of Biology of belief, and spontaneous evolution) or Deepak Chopra (author of so much!) or Greg Braden (The science of miracles) - the same thing always comes through - that if you use your intention, and imagine what it would be like to have your version of the world, actually try to conjure up the feeling of what it would be like, then that is what will be attracted to you from the field of infinite possibilities. Like attracts like, so if you have the vibration of your intention, then you are planting a seed in the Field, which can only grow and begin to manifest in your life. (previous entry 24th August)

The amazing thing, going a step further, is that if you have a group of people all imagining the same outcome, having the same intention, then the effect is so much more powerful. Greg Braden worked out (through various experiments) that the square root of 1% of a population is enough to have the effect of influence and change on that population.

So for a population of 1000 people it would take 3 people coordinating their thoughts, imagination and intention to have an influence on the 1000 people.

This was proved and documented in Washington state where 1000 people used Transcendental Meditation (TM) to lower the crime rate by 30% during a heat wave a few years ago, to the astonishment of the Chief of Police. (Greg Braden and Masaru Emoto have both made mention of this in their writings)

Many Global catastrophies have been avoided (previously mentioned in predictions by Seers as probable outcomes - Nostradamus being one) through the use of collective coordinated meditation throughout the world, because those predictions were probable outcomes at the time, but through this intervention, those outcomes were avoided.

So back to imagination, intention, and desire for change - it is completely possible.

This is what Deepak Chopra intended when he started the Alliance for a New Humanity - lots of small groups starting up all over the world, with the intention of creating a New Humanity. These are the words of Ernesto Sabato (Argentinian lauriate and writer) on the launch of the Alliance.

”An emergence is happening everywhere, unsung heroes are courageously demonstrating that a change of heart, a unified humanity and an improvement of the quality of life for all, is possible and is linked to a new conception of life. United in giving to others, in their absolute desire for a more human world, they have already started to generate change, taking risks in experience as profound as love and solidarity. And the Earth will become impregnated with their perseverance.” (www.anhglobal.org)

The point I am making is that everyone is trying to live their lives day by day, surrounded by bad stuff - bad news, greed, and abuse of power. The way to change this isn't to moan and bitch about what is wrong, but to be pro-active in creating the change.

Wayne Dyer in his writings about the Tao te Ching entitled it "Change your thoughts" - meaning "Change your thoughts and you will change your life". This cry has been taken up everywhere - you only have to Google 'Change your Thoughts' and see what comes up!

OK - enough for now

Thoughts for a New Humanity

Vibration.

It is a recorded fact that negative emotions create low vibrations, and the more positive a feeling, the higher the vibration. Love and Grattitude are the highest vibrations, and fear and hate as you can imagine sit at the opposite end of the scale.

The more we evolve, the higher our vibration

In my previous entry, I spoke about the news - bad news which sells newspapers, with a consequence of lowering your vibration daily, as you ponder the woes of the world.

Even though it is considered intelligent to be informed for knowledgeable dinner party conversations, my feeling is - choose what you read and what you watch. There is so much crap out there - watching the same burning building in London for hours, while we listen to the horrors of those out of control youths is pretty mindless and totally counter productive.

If you are to create the world you desire, then start by imagining it without being fettered by all this negativity. Yes it is real, but it is also a small percentage of the whole world - so put it into perspective. View it with compassion - understanding the problem, but do not buy into it with emotion, as that drags you into it’s spiral of downward motion.

So - create the world you desire by using your imagination, what you intend your world to be, and do that as a daily ritual. You must picture it, and actually feel it - imagine what it would be like with your feelings, and in your heart.

Another observation is that if something or someone irritates you or makes you angry, - don’t give them any space in your consciousness - understand that it is their path, and let it go. The more you go up against something, and react emotionally, the more you feed it’s power, and you perpetuate the situation.

We live in a Universe governed by the Law of Attraction, so whatever you focus on, you attract to you. If it is fear, you will attract the thing you are fearful of. If it is the vision in your imagination of what your ideal World would be, then that is what you will attract.

It is that simple. (although maybe not that easy!)

From a scientific point of view, Einsteins ‘Field’ is his reference to the Mind of Universal consciousness, and in that quantum soup lies infinite possibilities: until that time when you plant a seed of thought and desire, and that ‘possibility’ can stand forward from the infinite possibilities, and be drawn by your vibrational intent back to you it’s originator.

Like attracts like, and if your vibration is in alignment with that which you desire, then the result is a thought, made manifest.

Be the One

The ONE

I feel dismay that we have let ourselves down so much. We had so much promise - infinite promise in a world of infinite possibilities, and we choose to disregard our source - where we come from.

It is like being born and then looking at our parents and saying - Nah - we don’t need you - later!

The point is - choice - freedom of choice, free will - there is a clean canvas, what do you want to create?

We have this innate goodness at our core, but always there is the temptation of the innocent child thinking how pretty the flames look - I want to touch it, and only through the personal experience of getting burnt does it learn not to touch.

We are at that stage of our evolution - again.

We are getting burnt, and we are wondering why.

Time to wake up, turn to our source - who we really are, and realise with humility that we don’t have all the answers. Turn our thoughts inwards and realise who we really are, and what we have forgotten in our quest to feed our human ego.

We are ONE.

The place we come from - our source, where our true selves reside eternally as facets of the ONE, is where we must draw our inspiration from (how to be ‘In spirit’ once again).

Time and Time again we have decided to come back - to try once again, and each time we come here with amnesia, and see if we can mend the harm we have inflicted on ourselves and collectively on the Earth, our planet.

We are out of vibrational alignment with our source, and that is due to our collective conscience - the conscience of many lives over many ages. That is the Akashic record of all our deeds - our Karma. Only when we have righted the wrongs, and forgiven ourselves on a Universally sub-conscious level, can we lift our vibration back to our source, because only then will we be in harmony, vibrating in sync as a beautiful harmonic of our source.

Think of our vibration at the moment. Interference patterns everywhere, causing chaos, causing our colours to be off, our music to be a dull version of it’s true potential.

Take the seven colours of the rainbow - then throw them all together with countless interference patterns, and the nett result will be a dull version of the original. Take a pure chord, and drop in one note that has nothing to do with it, and the result also would be a discord.

That is where we are now - in discord - out of sync - disharmony - cut off from the beautiful colours and sounds of our source.

Karma is on the move. The world is currently paying debt - everywhere, in an attempt to bring those discords into harmony, and only then can we raise our collective vibration in beautiful harmony to the next level - the fifth dimension.

This is the cleansing of our ancestral conscience or Karma. Each time a wrong is righted, so the harmonic takes on a brighter note, and lifts in vibration. Guilt is cleansed - and I am talking of ancient sub conscious guilt over many ages, many dimensions - all of those things that our Source, (The ONE, our Father/Mother, the Field, The Ten thousand things, The TAO, our Buddha Nature, our Divine spirit, The Christ within us, GOD) has allowed us to do in the name of Free will.

What an experiment, but also what a way to create. Allow us free will, and through our combined imagination and desire, we create this Earth right now in all it’s flawed splendour. We think of ourselves as independant of our Source, and have created a vicious spiral of reality. We are all collectively to blame for the world we live in, and have spiralled into an existance that relies on a chain of events where no-one can really be held to account for our misery.

This is truly an example of the butterfly flaps it’s wings.

Everyone needs money - that seems to be inescapable, that our society is built on the need for money, large sums of it, to pay for everything. We therefore need our investments to work hard for us, so we expect the best returns from the institutions we have invested with. They in turn look for the best way to turn a buck, and in doing so, cut corners, act unethically, but all because we have applied the initial pressure.

But, it all had to start somewhere. The idea of ethical investment is very cool, but it seems that there are always those who, through greed, see a way of making better returns through the misery of others, and that is how we find ourselves in this vicious spiral. Once the moral spell is broken, it is a free for all.

If the playing fields were level - everyone investing money in things that are ethically and morally acceptable, then the competitive element remains within that model.
Once one person breaks ranks, and starts getting better returns through the misery of others, through unethical behaviour (sweat shops, human misery, mistreatment of animals, genetic modification of foodstuffs and so-on) then the others have to follow or lose their investors. The investors aren’t that discriminating - they see Nike doing well on the stock market, and that is all they see - not the ‘Why are Nike doing so well?’

So the ranks have been broken - and we all collectively disregard the suffering of our brothers and sisters in the interest of getting more interest, getting more money!

Moral code comes from ourselves, our society and our leaders - the wisdom of our leaders  (well, wisdom is what we have a right to expect)

The global moral code comes from our leaders as well - the USA and the UK being two countries that the world seems to focus on, being leaders of democracy.

.....and along comes George Bush and Tony Blair - and what moral leaders they turned out to be! and leading by example, the rest of the world follows. Anyhow - everyone should look to their roots - to the moral codes of their upbringing, and pass that on to their children. Go back to tradition, and most importantly go back to their Source. It is the disconnect that has allowed the world to spiral out of control.

OK - so how do we make it better.

If we accept the premis that we are co-creators of our environment and our universe. In terms of quantum physics it is through our imagination that we make reality stand forward from the realm of infinite possibility (out there in The Field - Einstein). This has been proved scientifically - that through our physical presence we create order out of chaos (Greg Braden), and through our observation we make our environment collapse into partical reality (from wave-form ‘possibility’). We reinforce our environment on a continual basis, through collective imagination and observation.
That is where the problem lies. As we see and experience, so we perpetuate.

Sadly, our daily wake-up call the world over is the news we are given by our local and international newspapers, and news programs like CNN and SKY. They trade in bad news and suffering, wars, murders, famine, misery, scandal and so-on. The reason why they trade in these things is because we as consumers seem to prefer bad news to good news, so they bombard us with repetitive thought-provoking visuals of a world gone mad.

It is no wonder that we perpetuate a world gone mad, thinking that this is the way of things, and is what we should expect from our fellow human beings.

However if we did but know, the news coverage is but a small proportion of all the things that happen on Earth, but it blows things completely out of proportion. People talk about what they have seen - they discuss the issues, and how the world seems to be going into a spiral of one disater after another. But we are perpetuating this spiral, and through our expectation of the next happening, create disaster after disaster.

The twin towers attack of 9/11 should have been a local disaster, experienced by people in the USA. However through our insatiable appetite for technology and communication, the whole world experienced the horror as if it were their own. The magnetic field at the North pole (which is monitored by three satellites) showed a huge spike when the twin towers were attacked, reflecting the human emotion created by the event. The fact that the human heart can collectively influence the magnetic field of the Earth is mind-blowing. So imagine our potential when love emanates from the collective human heart!

So, for a moment, imagine if the news we woke up to daily was good. Imagine it was about all the great things people do -  tales of great humanity, love stories, stories about mending the Earth, sustainable energy, and so-on. We would live our lives with the thought that everything is good with the world (as opposed to a world gone mad), and as co-creators, we would be perpetuating a healthy planet, strong in every respect.

Deepak Chopra started a movement at the beginning of this decade, called The Alliance for a New Humanity. His hope is that through people getting together, helping each other, imagining a better world, that eventually through reaching critical mass, we would be creating the world we desire, rather than the world that is created through fear (those are my words not his).

All it takes is the human spirit. What do you want? What kind of world do you want to live in? Hold that thought in your heart and disregard the rest. I am not saying ignore the rest, but look at it with compassion and understanding, not judgement. Anything you don’t like, understand that this is their path, not yours. Your path is simply what you make of it - what you allow yourself to imagine. In reality, that goodness is always there, it simply isn’t spoken about, because it doesn’t sell newspapers or get TV ratings.

The shock horror aspect, and the morbid fascination is all about showing yourself how lucky you are not to be there. It reaffirms your decision to live a different life in a different space, by watching the misery of others.

You don’t need that. You need to step away from me me me me me, feeding the insatiable appetite of your ego, and use your heart and imagination - ask the question

What do I want?

.....and then create it.
