Karma

Lao Tzu

What of Karma?

Karma quite simply is the record of cause and effect in each soul’s existance. You kill someone in one life, you eventually pay for it in another (normally with your life and blood).

As we reach the end of a 26000 year cycle, we are about to move into the Fifth dimension - Heaven on Earth - the age of ‘knowing’ rather than the current age of ‘believing’ - astrologically - The Age of Aquarius. This is an age where only those who have evolved enough spiritually to be able to handle power and not abuse it are able to participate - those who haven’t evolved sufficiently can continue to pursue the demands of their ego in another dimension.

There is the freedom of choice.

It is all about evolution of the spirit to find your way back to your source.

(Many religions record this as a momentous event of judgement, where you are either ‘in’ or ‘out’ - however the criteria in their eyes is a badge of membership, and not what is really is, - the evolution of a soul to an equilibrium of love and compassion. A person in whom  those qualities are completely natural, and not guided by necessity)

We have been there before as a race - and most people have heard of Atlantis. The fact is that there are so many stories, because there are so many storytellers (and of course you have to factor in the ‘Chinese Whisper’!) - but Atlantis was an age in the Fifth dimension, and it was once more through the abuse of power that it fell into ruin, washed away, or sunk by a great flood (you’ve read about Noah’s ark - well that was a consequence of this flood that covered Atlantis).

So - what to do?

Here's my first thought - become a vegetarian.................

I hear a great laugh go up! - but bear with me.

OK - maybe as the first step, think of becoming a vegetarian.

Actually our Karma as ‘cause and effect’ is directly related to everything we eat, and if even indirectly we have caused the death of a sentient being, then through the law of Karma will we have to pay for those deaths - eventually.

Here’s a quote from Genesis (King James Bible) that gives you food for thought (sorry)

Genesis 1 29
And God said, "Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat."

So for now, think about that - we are supposed to be vegetarian - this meat eating business causes more misery and food shortage problems than you can imagine - the problem is - I am a meat eater, but I am trying to evolve:

As I write this, I can say that I am a ‘Pescatarian’. OK it is a slight cop-out, but in reality I started my path as a vegetarian two weeks ago, and on the first friday, I was invited to Koi in Rosebank. Then it hit me! I hadn’t factored in Sushi. So I sat there, wobbled, justified everything to myself and wolfed down a plate of delicious sushi.

Hence Pescatarian. Baby steps............

Maybe by the next entry or two, I will be off fish as well.

The point is this. We as human beings contribute to the misery and suffering of animals in the pursuit of our food. We grow animals in the most inhumane circumstances and then kill them (in the name of food and profit). Often with no thought towards the suffering of those animals.

Well, to a red blooded meat eater, this is either me being feeble-minded, or if they agree, they must look at their meat and see a chop, or a steak, or a lifeless hunk of ‘chicken’ - but don’t dwell on the animal. Lets face it, as humans we are generally very thoughtless and cruel about our survival. (and before you even think it - Darwin can’t be factored in!) - it is not justified by the survival of the fittest, that isn’t necessary, as we are not in a jungle, and we are not wild animals. (we even try this mindless Darwinian quote to justify our unethical behaviour in business)

We have the freedom of choice, which means we can behave ethically and with compassion if we choose to!

Seriously - in our daily living, we shouldn’t be responsible - directly or indirectly for anyone’s misery or death. We should rather be consiously thinking of other people we share this planet with as we go about our daily business of living, and that includes animals of every sort.

So, if you think that our Karma includes what we do to our dumb companions - the animals on the Earth, then maybe it is time to reconsider.

I love my food, and I eat more than anyone I know, but through understanding more about cause and effect, and my own personal footprint on this planet, I have taken this step.

  1. Or maybe the Creators design was for humanity to eat meat or not its personal choice ....one thing we cant deny in the environment in which we live, is that there is amazing design ..... the sole purpose of a cow in the greater scheme of things is leather, milk , meat .... (function)same thing as a chicken actually depending on your world view everything is symbolic and points to 1 thing for Life there must be death a major principal that if not grasped could have eternal ramifications .....killing Animals do not mess with our eternal judgement but the internal underlying emotion could .... eg: hate, its not the killing of a animal that condemns me its the internal emotion HATE
Karma does not deal with humanity internal projection which tends towards darkness it merely looks over it .... something is needed to overcome the Darkness and reveal the True Light by which we can become partakers of because in that light comes the power of divinity
which is Patient, Kind, does not envy, does not boast, is not proud is not rude , is not self seeking, does not anger , keeps no record of wrong, always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves, never fails shuns evil and embraces truth

  2. Nicely put Mr G - you say you aren't a writer, but you have put it all down very succinctly. I agree with you that it is about the freedom of choice that we have been given, and the net result of our action is what it does to our 'selves' in terms of conscience, taking us to a dark or light place.
This is going to be interesting!

  3. Thanks JP. This certainly is food for thought! As a health professional, yogi and having being born into a 'hindu' family, I tend to agree with Grant. The concept of karma is a complex yet so simple. Its not as simple as if you murder , you will be murdered or if you beat fish, you will find yourself being chased by a shark. I believe Karma is about the intention with which one carries out an action, and the awareness of the consequences of that action. If that action is carried out with pure intention, with full awareness and with integrity, it will attract the same.
From a quantum physics perspective, red meat has a dense vibration, from a health perspective, it does take its toll on the digestive system, and yes, I guess it's an enviromentally friendly choice. But I have come across many patients who require animal protein in their diets. We know from Ayurveda that we all have different body types. And for some , a vegetarian diet just does not work. I also find that in the new age circles, we are way too ungrounded, looking for any opportunity to orbit out of the body into other dimensions, not fully present, ungrounded... Spiritual astronauts I've heard them called. We need to come back to our bodies, the earth, the physical sometimes - I've often suggested that some of my patients eat meat for a while just to bring them back to earth! interestingly,
Vegetarianism was not always part of the Hindu religion, it was a concept brought to India by the buddhists, manybof whom eat meat!
So yes, I don't think vegetarianism is a karmic issue actually. Eating a plate of brocolli and brown rice in a state of anxiety or while not being fully present is far more detrimental physically and spiritually. It's all about personal choice and your personal truth

  4. Thanks Ela - I can see that it is all about the intention behind an action. I suppose my problem is about the intention of the people who 'grow' our animals - and that is not an altruistic action of feeling the hungry, but one of maximising profits, and if it is to the detriment of these animals (pain, suffering, bad environments and living conditions, resulting in a petrified death) I for one step aside. I have nothing against the idea of man the hunter (the Bushmen for example) going out and killing an animal to feed his tribe and family. In their case, it is almost a spiritual act, understanding the circle of life, and the animal dies a death, after living a natural life. The circle of life is the animal giving it's life to sustain another. But yes, point taken - it is all about the intention of an action, and that by consequence is then how we end up feeling about ourselves.

  5. Yes and I do see your point too, but how far does one take the choices that we make if we were to extend this thinking to every aspect of our life?
I dont believe that the way our crops are grown, or the way our bread is made is always ethical our environmentally friendly. So many systems that are part of our lives are rooted in greed and corruption, the banking system, medical aids, pharmaceutical companies. I can go on...
So the choice it seems to me is either to retreat into a Himalayan cave and meditate ourselves off the planet or to live every day with an open heart and pure intention, fully engaged, fully present. The oneness and love that emerges from this place is enough to change the world.

  6. Jonathan,

There is certainly no problem with you eating as much sushi and fillet as you desire .... just be sure you keep your body balance in check ...
your problem does not lie with the food but with the greedy mass production murderers they will stand before the Creator one day and have to answer for their greed and evil its not you problem the best you could do is to avoid supporting them ......

But keep in mind this gets tricky considering what alcohol does to society why support them also look how much of your food is halaal ....you would freek to find out about their agenda with your currency

who do you really want to support ???
